Laser Hair Removal

Common Questions

1. Who can get laser hair removal treatments?

The best candidates for Laser Hair Removal are persons with light skin and dark hair. This doesn't mean if you don't fall into this category that the treatments won't work. Laser Hair removal will not reduce Blonde Hairs, Red Hairs or Grey/White Hairs. As of right now the technology does not exist.  If you do have pigment in your hair it can be treated. This being said persons with a darker skin tone can also be treated. Persons with darker skin tones are treated on a different setting at a lower level. If you aren't sure please book in a consultation to make sure you are a candidate.

2. How many treatments are required?

Typically the average is 12 treatments for Facial Hair Removal and 8 treatments for Body Laser Hair Removal.

Treatments will start between 3-4 weeks apart and will get to 8-12 weeks apart when getting closer to the end of the hair reduction.

3. How do you prepare for laser hair removal?

Make sure you shave the evening before or the morning of your treatment. Exfoliating the area before shaving can coax out hairs trapped under the skin for a more efficient treatment. Stop waxing, epilating and plucking the area to be treated about 3 weeks in advance.

No direct sun or heat exposure to the area to be treated for 24 hours before and 24 hours after.

4. What happens if you don't follow treatment protocols?

If you wait too long between treatments this can negatively effect the outcome. The purpose of having the protocol is to make sure you are coming in for your treatment at the optimal time of hair growth cycles. As the hairs grow in 3 different cycles we are trying to "catch" the hairs at the best time to kill the root. Hair reduction at each appointment is approximately 15-18%.

5. Will the hairs return after a certain period of time?

Hair growth is mainly managed by hormones. Events such as pregnancy, menopause and even stress can cause new hairs to grow that have since been dormant. Maintenance after all treatments are finished are typically within 9 months to 18 months. These treatments would be considered "spot" treatments at a reduced price.

A full, in-depth consultation is required before starting any Laser treatment. Please bring all questions to your appointment.

Microneedling (CIT Therapy)

Treatment Information

Micro Needling is performed using a hand held device and uses a series of tiny needles to create micro-channels into the dermal-epidermal junction. This precise stimulation creates controlled wounding, which stimulates collagen and elastin proliferation as the skin repairs itself. New and healthy tissue surrounds the area and rejuvenates the skin. Another wonderful benefit to Micro Needling is the ability of the skin to substantially increase its ability to allow other skin building serums to penetrate and effect cells at a deeper level. These properties make this an excellent treatment for anti-aging and pigmentation concerns.

This treatment is provided for;

-Acne Scarring

-Surgical Scarring

-Pigmentation

-Fine Lines and Deep Lines

-Anti-Aging

-Pore Reduction

-Skin Tightening

-Skin Rejuvenation

Immediately after your treatment your skin will feel tighter and warmer than usual. Post treatment care will be provided. Redness and minor swelling from treatment should subside over the next 2-8 hours. Skin must be treated gently for the next 72 hours.

Pre and Post Treatment Care

Pre Treatment Instructions-Products

Avoidance of Accutane for 6 months prior. Avoid retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliates, hydroquinone, sunburn, and benzoyl peroxide 3 days prior to procedure. Avoidance of IPL/Laser procedures for 7 days prior to treatment. No waxing, depilatory creams or electrolysis 5-7 days prior to the treatment. If use of a peel was recommended in conjunction with the micro-needling, do not use topical agents that may increase skin sensitivity, a reaction to the peel, or dryness 3-4 days prior to the peel (topical retinoid or hydroquinone products). No acids or defoliants that may be drying or irritating to the skin (such as alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) beta hydroxyl acids (BHA), exfoliating masks, hydroquinone, or benzyl peroxide acne products. No shaving the day of the procedure. Skin is clean without lotion, oil, makeup, deodorant, powder, perfume or sunscreen.

Post Treatment Instructions

Immediately after your Medical Micro Needling treatment, your aesthetician will apply serum of choice and sunscreen topically. Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications; these agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation. Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. When exposed to sun, always use sun screen SPF30 or above. Mineral makeup may be applied 24 hours after treatment.

No exfoliation for about 3-4 days. Your skin may peel and feel dry, keep skin hydrated with a serum (hyaluronic) and/or a hydrating moisturizer. The peeling will stop on its own and skin will regulate after a couple days. Drink plenty of water.

After 7+ days you will notice your skin is smoother, firmer and brighter.

Treatments can be repeated every 4-6 weeks depending on the area of the body and healing time. General protocol is 3-6 treatments.
